Product testing is a rather specialized niche on the Internet today. You can do some searches on the internet and find a lot of companies that say they will pay you for product testing or you can make money for testing products however, they don't just accept anybody and everybody.

Most companies that manufacture products don't actually send you the products. These companies hire market research firms to screen eligible applicants, then they send out the products for your review and feedback.

This is typically how you go about trying to become a product tester. Note, that this process will take some time and you might not get any products to test for a month or so until you have proven yourself a good candidate, honest, reliable and provide good feedback in a timely manner.

Start with using search engines to find companies that offer product-testing services. You will find links after links on the subject. Then it is just a matter of going to each site, read about how their services work, how they pay and what is required of you.

When you find some sites that interest you, you will have to fill out a short form creating a user ID, a password and an email address. Use a separate email account other than your regular email because once you start signing up on these site you will start getting a lot of emails promoting all sorts of offers, sweepstakes money making plans and the like.

After you have signed up they usually will send you a confirmation email; this is an email that has a link in it back to their site that you must click on it to confirm that you did register with that site. At this point you are now registered but they are not going to start sending you out products right away.

This is where it is going to get a bit time consuming on your part. You will need to login to their site and they will ask you to fill out a bunch of small surveys asking you all sort of questions. They do this to find out what type of consumer you are and if you fit in with what they need. The typical type of questions they will ask are

1. your location 2. your age 3. your profession 4. your income

These are the basic demographic question they start with. Then you will answer a series of survey questions on a variety of topics. This is their screening process to assess your eligibility for participating in their product-testing program. These are profile type questions and usually you do not get paid for them however, some sites might pay you 1 to 5 bucks by registering and filling out all the profile forms and such.

At this point they will tell you whether you qualify to start testing products. However, usually they will want you to start taking consumer surveys for the next month or so to get a feel about you, and how you go about responding in a timely manner and the feedback that you provide. Then if they are satisfied with your results they start out sending you small products, i.e. small bottle of shampoo, dish soap and things like that.

Depending on how well you do by providing good feedback on the products, they can begin to send you more products big or small. Most of the time your reward is the product itself but some will actually pay you a small fee for testing their products.

You won't get rich doing this but you could have some fun and even find some products that you actually enjoy and end up buying on a regular basis. Good luck!
